What telematics and connectivity vendors won’t lead with.

  • Per-device telematics fees that scale faster than your fleet: many providers price hardware as a low upfront cost and recoup it through per-unit monthly data fees that aren’t clearly disclosed until year two.
  • “Unlimited” hotspot data with an undisclosed throttle: most enterprise mobile hotspot plans deprioritize data after a threshold most fleets hit mid-month — read the fine print on deprioritization triggers, not just the word “unlimited.”
  • LPWA and cellular coverage gaps on rural distribution routes: get a real coverage map for your actual routes and yards before signing, not a national coverage map that doesn’t reflect your last-mile reality.
  • Multi-year hardware leases disguised as service contracts: know whether you’re leasing the telematics hardware or the service — the exit terms are very different.
